By 14 AD, following the succession of Tiberius, the Romans were ready for revenge. Bringing order to the mutinous Rhine legions (Legio I Germanica), the general Germanicus mounted a series of campaigns against Arminius, ultimately defeating him at Idistaviso on the Weser River (Battle of Idistaviso).
