Political map of Europe & the Mediterranean 28 June 1919 (Treaty of Versailles): While Europe united to crush Communism (Revolutions of 1917-23), the Allies (Allies of World War I) imposed the Treaty of Versailles (Treaty of Versailles) on Germany. The effects of this Treaty were to: restrict Germany's ability to wage war; force Germany to pay huge reparations for the War (World War I); surrender German territory to France (Alsace-Lorraine), Belgium (Eupen-Malmedy), and Poland (Polish Corridor); make Danzig a free city (Free City of Danzig); and create plebiscite zones with Denmark and Poland (where the local people would later vote for which country they would belong to).
